I love Merry Misfits! I love everything about them! I love them all so much, I cannot choose a favourite. Here are a few tags I made using these quirky little guys…

Stamp your Santa Misfit (CMS387) onto a piece of hot pressed watercolour paper using Jet Black Archival Ink, and colour in with watercolour markers of your choice.
My new favourite markers to work with are the Winsor and Newton Watercolour Markers – if you are a fan of watercolour markers, then you really need to give these a try!
Colours Used: Cadmium Red Deep Hue / Cerulean Blue Hue / Lamp Black
I used a Uni Pin marker to draw in the eyes.
You can use the markers direct to paper, or add colour to your non stick craft sheet and transfer colour to your stamped image using a water brush or fine detail paint brush and water.
I always use a heat tool between colour layers to ensure the ink doesn’t become saturated and bleed.
I stamped a few images and played around with different googly eyes for these misfit characters… ok, ok, I just cant stop playing with my new markers!
I cut a large tag from the Tim Holtz Tag Collection Framlits Set ( 658784 ). Then I sprayed the tag generously with some Distress Spray Stain, Candied Apple and dried using a heat tool.
Once the ink was dry, I sprayed some water droplets over the inked tag and dabbed off with a dry paper towel to reveal the lighter splotches. Then dry again using a heat tool.
Next I sprayed my Graph Stamp (CMS185) using some plain water – just a light mist over the stamp, and I then stamped the tag randomly with the watered stamp. Remove the stamp carefully and dab away the water with a dry paper towel. The misted areas of the stamp with lift colour from the background for a subtle effect. This works best over darker coloured backgrounds.
Using my stamping platform and Archival Ink Pad Jet Black, I stamped a brushstrokes circle onto the tag (CMS293), along with some sentiments from the new Misfits stamp set (CMS387). Using the stamping platform is really necessary as you want to layer up the ink to create a solid background. I probably stamped this image at least 5 or 6 times.
Dry using a heat tool.
I then cut out my Misfit Santa using my Tim Holtz Mini Snips and adhered him to the top of the brushstrokes circle using foam tape to give him some height.
He really is a cutie pie!
