I love Merry Misfits! I love everything about them! I love them all so much, I cannot choose a favourite. Here are a few tags I made using these quirky little guys…
Stamp your Reindeer Misfit (CMS387) onto a piece of hot pressed watercolour paper using Jet Black Archival Ink, and colour in with watercolour markers of your choice. My new favourite markers to work with are the Winsor and Newton Watercolour Markers – if you are a fan of watercolour markers, then you really need to give these a try! Colours Used: Cadmium Red Hue / Cerulean Blue Hue / Yellow Ochre / Raw Umber I used a Uni Pin marker to draw in the eyes. You can use the markers direct to paper, or add colour to your non stick craft sheet and transfer colour to your stamped image using a water brush or fine detail paint brush and water. I always use a heat tool between colour layers to ensure the ink doesn’t become saturated and bleed.I stamped a few images and played around with different googly eyes for these misfit characters… ok, ok, I just cant stop playing with my new markers!Next I used my new Tim Holtz Plaid Stencil (THS134) over a large die cut Tag (Tim Holtz Tag Collection 658784), and inked over the stencil using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Mowed Lawn and blending tool. I like to use my Wendy Vecchi Make Art Staytion especially for stenciling as the magnets hold everything in place ensuring my stencil doesn’t shift.Keeping the stencil in place, I added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink, Vintage Photo over different areas to create a little depth the tag and also to bring in the colour of the reindeer.The I used some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to blend lightly around the edges of the tag.Using my Stamping Platform and Archival Ink Jet Black, I stamped a Christmas Sentiment onto the tag (CMS137)Using my Tim Holtz Mini Snips, I cut out the reindeer and adhered him to the tag using double sided foam tape to give him some height and make him the focal point of the tag.I cut out the numbers 25 from some thick Black Album Board using my Bigz XL Deco Alphabet DieUsing some Glossy Accents I adhered the 25 to the tag. I really love this reindeer – he makes me smile every time I look at him!
