Colorize: Hanging out with Arthur 2

Arthur looks great in every colour! Here’s a quick and easy card topper I made for my Blue Arthur buddy…

I always add Sizzix adhesive sheets (or use my xyron), to the back of my cardstock before I cut out my pieces. Trust me, this makes life MUCH easier when it comes to assembling as glue can get messy.
For my card topper, I sprayed a piece of Hot Pressed Watercolour Paper with water and then added some colour. Distress Ink Sprays, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans and Distress Oxide Spray, Tumbled Glass.
Remember that you can always add water and more ink to get the desired background. So keep playing until you are happy with the result!
TIP: Spray in your Splatbox to avoid spraying half your studio with ink
I used my heat tool to dry the inks.
Then I cut out a circle from the inked cardstock. I wanted to use a circle to imitate the shape of the moon in the background
I applied some Texture Paste through the Falling Stars stencil and then while the paste was wet, covered with Vintage Pearl Embossing Powder and heat set the stars.
I prefer to heat set the stars when the paste is wet as I like the paste to bubble. But if you aren’t keen on that, simply wait for the paste to dry before you heat set the embossing powder
I wanted to create a backing board for my inked cardstock, so I die cut a circle from a plain white sheet of cardstock
And adhered the 2 together. This just made it much sturdier
I trimmed my card topper down to size and chose to cut off part of the circle. And inked the edges using a blending tool and Faded Jeans distress ink
I adhered the card topper with Arthur peering out of the circle using double sided foam tape
And matted the entire piece onto some dark blue cardstock for the contrast
I stamped a sentiment from the Crazy Talk stamp set onto a piece of dark blue cardstock using my Faded Jeans ink pad and added some Vintage Pearl embossing powder and heat set it. Don’t forget, ALL Distress Ink Pads are embossable!
And adhered the sentiment to the bottom right hand corner of the card topper using collage medium and my Wendy Vecchi Mini Make Art Stay-tion to line it up (this little tool NEVER leaves my desk! I love it!)
Another really simple background that allows Arthur to shine like the super star he is!
