If you haven’t tried the Tim Holtz Black Alcohol Ink Cardstock, then I would really suggest you give it a try. The results on the black background are AMAZING!
I started by adding some Isoproyl Alcohol (in the smaller floline bottle), and a few drops of Blending Solution to the surface of the black alcohol ink cardstock
When working with a dark substrate, you always need to add a light coloured solid base so that the inks show up. Remember that alcohol inks are translucent and therefore wont show up over the black. I added a few drops of Snow Cap Mixative onto the surface
And then I added some alcohol inks. I was feeling in the mood for pinks and purples here. So grabbed my Gumball and Boysenberry inks, added a few drops over the white, and then added a few more drops of the snow cap too. Remember that the white will also make the inks a little more pastel
I used my air blower to move the ink across the surface of the substrate, adding a little more ink, isopropyl alcohol and blending solution along the way, until I had the desired effect
I am absolutely obsessed with Alloys at the moment, so added some Gilded Alloy and used my air blower to move that across the surface. Remember to always use a couple of drops of Blending Solution when applying alloys, as this allows the alloy to bond to the substrate. Otherwise the alloy could ‘flume’ (rub off) the surface
The alloy wants to regroup, so use your air blower to break it up and direct it across the surface as desired. I love this faux leafing effect! Cannot get enough of it at the moment!
The black alcohol ink cardstock is an absolute dream to die cut #justsaying I die cut some flowers from a favourite set of mine
I cut 2 of each element and glued them together using collage medium matte. I like the extra dimension it gives the pieces
Then I matted it onto some coordinating Metallic Cardstock
I used my mini Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion to line up the foliage on the card and glued into place using my collage medium matte
Then I tied some ribbon around the base
And added an antique gem on a mini pin. Who doesn’t love a little bling right?
I also added some tiny gemstones to the tips of the dandelion using my pick me up tool and distress collage medium matte
That background!!! I just love those purple and pink ‘clouds’ on the black cardstock! I hope you get your alcohol inks out and get creative!
