I love using dies and stamps that I already have in my stash. Don’t get me wrong, like any crafter, I LOVE new stash and am a seasoned collector of all things crafty. But I still love using the stash I already have. This series of red and green tags make me smile and I had such fun making them!
I started off by making up a few fun little festive creatures using my Winter Critters die set. I adore these little guys, they are absolutely perfect for tags!
For the first set of tags, I ran some Ranger Texture Paste through my stencil and then covered the tag in Holographic Embossing Powder and heat set the powder while the paste was still wet. I like to do it while the paste is still wet as that way the paste bubbles with the heat and adds extra dimension
Then I sprayed one tag with Distress Spray Stain Candied Apple and the other with Mowed Lawn. The embossed stencil works as a resist. So the stain only adheres to the cardstock. How awesome does that look!?!
I went around the edges of the tags with some Fired Brick (on the red tag) and Lucky Clover (on the green tag), just to edge them off nicely
Then I added a little Black Soot randomly around some of the edges, working my way into the centre of the tag a little. I just love how this creates depth of colour!
I die cut a tree and wreath circle from another older Sizzix die set (Festive Scribbles)
I covered them in clear embossing dabber and then covered with Holographic Embossing Powder and heat set it. I love the little bling it brings to these die cut pieces
I inserted and set an eyelet into each tag
Then I stamped some sentiments onto white hot pressed watercolour paper using my Stamp Press and Jet Black Archival Ink Pad. I edged these sentiments with a little ink too
Then I glued the elements into place
Super cute and sparkly Christmas Tags ready to go!
For my next set of tags, I started by die cutting a circle in each tag. These stacked circle dies are great sets to invest in (all the shapes actually), you get 5 of each size in each set
I inked the first tag in an ombre fashion. Pine Needles at the bottom, Lucky Clover in the middle and Mowed Lawn at the top
For the red tag, I used Fired Brick on the bottom two thirds, and Candied Apple at the top. Then I went over the bottom third of Fired Brick with Black Soot. This really deepens the colour
A little stamping is always fun! I stamped some greenery and a sentiment on each tag using my Stamp Press and Jet Black Archival Ink
I then adhered the tags to some black cardstock using double sided foam tape so that they were raised from the black cardstock, creating depth to the die cut circle
I inserted and set the eyelets
And used double sided foam tape to adhere the little critters to the centre of the circles
Really easy and vibrant tags ready to be attached to a gift!
On my last set of tags, I decided to use a stencil in the backgrounds. You can see that I used a blending brush on this stencil and because the brushes get right up to the sides of the stencils, the line between the colour is almost non existent. I used Candied Apple and then darkened the top and bottom with Fired Brick
I decided to use a blending tool on this tag to ensure the lines between the colour was visible and more pronounced. I coloured this tag with Mowed Lawn and then used Lucky Clover on the top and bottom to create the depth
One of my absolute favourite stamp sets! Brushstrokes! I use it all the time!!! I always use my Stamp Press when stamping from this set. That way I can stamp multiple times to ensure a good impression. Here I stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink
I stamped some sentiments onto a piece of hot pressed watercolour paper in Jet Black Archival
And inserted and set the eyelets
As always, I used my Mini Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion to line the sentiments on the tags and glue them into place
Then I adhered the critters using double sided foam tape for some dimension
Another 2 festive critter tags done!
