Christmas Wrapping: White & Silver Tin

There is nothing nicer than receiving a beautifully wrapped gift. This elegant and sophisticated present was for a very special friend and was well worth the effort!

I ALWAYS keep / hoard any tins we may receive or buy. In this case, I had a gorgeous white and silver tin from some biscuits we purchased from Woolworths last Christmas – perfect for what I had in mind!
I added the present and some tissue paper and closed the tin
Then I added some silver and white ribbon. For a plush, abundant feel, I like to add more than one ribbon. I just think it feels more extravagant, and as this prezzie was for a special friend, I really wanted it to feel luxurious!
I added some Alcohol Mixative: Silver to a mini mister and topped it up with alcohol blending solution (about 3 parts mixative to 1 part solution). Gave it a little shake and sprayed a 2.5″ woodland tree. Be sure to spray in a well ventilated area!!! And use your splatbox!
I love colouring the woodland trees with alcohol ink as it dries so quickly, and as it isn’t water soluble, once it is dry, it is sealed. Which means that there is no chance of colour running if you add any adhesives to the tree
Then I adhered some Tim Holtz Pearl Baubles to the tree using my Distress Collage Medium Matte
One of my new favourite things… Distress Mica Flakes! They are gorgeous!
I applied some Distress Collage Medium Matte to the tree and poured over some mica flakes and let it air dry… how pretty?!
Before Distress Crayons, I always added colour to my words bands and such with Distress Paint. But I found that I always made a bit of a mess about it.
Well… no more mess! Colour over your word band with your Distress Crayon (I used Picket Fence here). The crayon will hold in the recessed areas and easily wipe off the surface of the metal word band
I only wanted to attach the word band from one side. So I used some pliers to cut off the other end of the word band and filed away any rough areas using a sanding tool
The I attached the word band to the gift using a Tim Holtz mini pin and a jump ring
I sprayed my Tim Holtz Deer using a ‘go to’ for me… Rust-Oleum Paint and Primer Flat White and allowed it to air dry as I didn’t want to melt the deer
He had to be sparkly! So I painted him with collage medium matte adhesive and dunked him in my tub of glitter and waited for him to dry.
The camera never picks up the sparkle, but this little guy is glittery!
I added some Ranger Texture Paste opaque Matte to the top of the tin using a palette knife to imitate snow – I think this paste is the best for snow!
Yup… you guessed it… I added some Mica Flakes! They are just too glorious to resist!
Then I added my deer to the pile of snow and adhered my tree to the top of the gift using no more nails
I wanted to make a tag in the same colour scheme for this gift – and it had to be beautiful… so I went to a new favourite stencil of mine.
I cut a tag from hot pressed watercolour paper using the Tim Holtz Tag Collection Die Set and then reached for my mini Sparkle Stencil (THMS132). I think this stencil is so classy!
I applied Ranger Texture Paste Opaque Matte over the stencil and allowed it to air dry
I love the range of Nuvo colours, but often I just use them as paints and not as dimensional pastes. So I added some water to the paste to make it more liquid, and painted over the tag. I gave it 3 coats and dried between each coat using a heat tool. I used Nuvo Gunmetal Grey Embellishment Mousse for this tag – the perfect colour to accompany my tin!
This step may seem a little odd…
I wanted the sparkles to be white, but I also wanted them to be quite dimensional. So I applied another layer of texture paste over the top using the stencil again, but made sure to apply a lot of paste so the sparkles were really raised
While the paste was wet, I sprinkled over some Ranger Holographic Embossing Powder and set the tag aside for about 10 minutes, before heating the embossing powder with an embossing tool. They had to be sparkly sparkles after all!
These Seasonal sticker words are ALWAYS in my stash. I love them!
I stuck one to a piece of thick white triplex board as I didn’t want to use it as a sticker, and also wanted it to be sturdy
Then I cut the sentence into a few pieces
Whenever I am needing to line something up or using a stencil these days, I always seem to reach for my Wendy Vecchi Make Art Staytion. When they were first released, I didn’t think it would be something that I would use, but have to say – it now lives ON my desk!
I adhered my words to the top of the tag and also added some Tim Holtz metal stars to the tag for a little extra dazzle
Insert and set an eyelet
A perfectly classic and sparkly tag to accompany a perfectly elegant gift
I attached the tag to the gift using a Tim Holtz Loop Pin
An elegant present for an elegant friend!
Almost too pretty to open!
