- Distress Glaze: Rainbow Glaze Card Topper

My substrate preference for this card was Hot Pressed Watercolour Paper as I wanted it smooth and I wanted a substrate that wouldn’t warp when heated

Play time! I grabbed a bunch of colourful Distress Oxide Ink Pads and applied them to by background using a blending tool

Then I stamped over the top of the background using Watering Can Archival Ink Pad and a favourite Wendy Vecchi Background stamp – Wendy has some awesome background stamps!

I chose a Dylusions leaf stamp for this next part – you really want to use a stamp with a full / open surface area so that this effect can really shine.
I stamped the leaves on top of the oxide colours one at a time using my stamping platform and Clear Embossing Ink Pad – do not do all the leaves at the same time or the ink will dry out.
Apply the Distress Glaze over the top of each stamped area and heat set

Next I stamped a sentiment from a Tammy Tutterow stamp set using Jet Black Archival Ink

I used my new favourite watercolour markers – Winsor and Newton, so colour in the stamped sentiment in rainbow colours

This stamp set cam with coordinating dies, so I cut a drop shadow to the Happy Birthday from black cardstock

I glued the sentiment to the drop shadow using Distress Collage Medium

I wanted a smaller sentiment on black cardstock, so I stamped using clear embossing ink and covered with Super Fine White Embossing Powder and heat set

In order to really make this rainbow card pop, I matted it onto some black cardstock

I used my Mini Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion to line up the sentiment to the background and adhered the sentiment down using some foam tape for extra dimension

Lastly I adhered the smaller sentiment below using Distress Collage Medium

This happy card just makes me smile. I love the way the glazes really enhance the oxide colours in the background. I have tried this using only clear embossing powder, but it really doesnt give you an effect nearly as nice as the glazes. The tint of the glazes really makes this technique work
