We doesn’t love a rainbow background? I created this car topper using a monoprint and embossing the alcohol ink yupo background. Check it out…
Because I knew I wanted to run this card topper through my embossing machine, I used Heavystock Yupo as it is thicker and stronger and was the better option when it came to the embossing partI started by adding a generous amount of Isopropyl Alcohol Ink to the surface of the heavystock yupo. I prefer to do this, as it really allows the alcohol ink to float on the surface, making it easier to move and manipulate when creating a backgroundYou need some colour for a rainbow right?! I added the colours horizontally across the substrate. Gumball, Dandelion, Mojito, Glacier and Boysenberry make for a great bright rainbow!I had another piece of heavystock yupo the same size at the ready and then placed that directly over my inked yupo and gently pressed it into the ink. You can see the alcohol ink leaking out from between the two sheetsAnd voila! A quick and easy background in duplicate. You could totally use them as they are, or use them as a base / starting point.I decided to add a little more colour and manipulated the colour across the surface using my air blower – in my opinion, the air blower is an absolute essential tool when it comes to working with alcohol inks (I don’t know how we ever managed without it to be honest!)I have a Distress Sprayer dedicated to Isopropyl Alcohol as I use a lot of it when I’m working with my alcohol inks. I sprayed the background to create some little lighter droplets which makes for a nice effectInto the embossing folder it went and through my Big Shot Plus die cutting and embossing machine. I ran this through the machine twice to ensure I had a nice, deep embossed image. Yupo is actually a synthetic paper and wont emboss as well as standard cardstocks, but I find if you run it through a couple of times, you get a pretty good embossed result.In a circular motion, I gently sanded the embossed surface which removes the ink from the yupo and really makes the embossed dots pop!I trimmed my card topper down to sizeAnd die cut a sentiment from a Hero Arts stamp and die set. I stamped the sentiment with Jet Black archival ink and then die cut it. I also cut a second word from plain white cardstockAnd adhered the black word on top of the white word, allowing for a small white shadowI stamped some sentiments from my Hero Art Stamp and Die sets onto plain white cardstock using Jet Black Archival InkAnd matted the one sentiment onto some black cardstock and cut a ribbon from the other sentimentI matted my background onto some white cardstockAnd used my Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion to line up my sentiments and adhere them into placeI decided to finish off the word ‘love’ by giving it a layer of Glossy AccentsA super quick, super easy, and very colourful card topper to add to your stash!
